In the dolce vita days, there was little more fashionable than a cross-continental voyage on the Orient Express. First inaugurated with a journey from Paris to Romania in 1883, the Orient Express became one of the most celebrated and glamorous methods of travel, particularly in its heyday in the 1920s and 1930s. Today, the Venice Simplon-Orient Express continues its luxurious passage through dramatic landscapes between Venice and several European cities, including London, Paris, Rome, Budapest, Bucharest, Prague and Istanbul. The legendary train’s carriages each have their own interesting history and have always been opulently furnished. Guests are served sumptuous cuisine prepared by French chefs complemented by fine wines.
